How it all began:
Founded in 1974 in a Southern California garage, Mongoose was born when founder Skip Hess designed the MotoMag One wheel to make BMX bikes stronger with a rad new look. From there, BMX riding turned from an underground hobby to a full-blown phenomenon, with Mongoose's innovative products continually forging the sport's exciting new path. Mongoose riders dominated the BMX race circuit in the 1980s, while the company continued to push bicycle boundaries by pioneering the first wave of full-suspension mountain bike frames. Today, Mongoose continues to create products that push riders to thrilling new limits, whether it's ripping through gnarly mountain trails, stomping tricks in the park or owning the urban jungle. From reinventing the wheel to our current line of BMX, mountain and pavement bikes, Mongoose is synonymous with pure, unadulterated performance that always keeps the party going.
Where the road ends is where adventures truly begin. Blaze your own trail on the 700c Elroy Adventure bike from Mongoose, a souped-up ride with capable adventure geometry that's at home wherever the ride takes you. Seriously, the only thing limiting where you ride will be your imagination and willingness for adventure. Take everything you need on long bike tours or refreshing camping trips thanks to the large integrated frame bag (with a sweet embroidered patch), a huge pannier-friendly front rack, and the capability of even more carrying space thanks to a convenient rear rack mount. Three unique water bottle cage mounts give you the capability to always stay hydrated on your next cross-country trek or favorite fundraiser ride. With a sleek alloy frame, a strong steel fork, reliable Tourney derailleurs, and a 14-speed shifters/brake lever combo, Elroy will breeze over hills on your morning commute or speed to happy hour after work (make sure to use the bottle opener integrated into the front rack!). And thanks to crisp mechanical disc brakes, wide 700c alloy rims and large 40c tires, there's truly no end to your on- and off-road adventures. There is hardly even room to mention the fender mounts, internal cable routing and 2 additional fork-integrated water bottle cage mounts... The Mongoose Elroy serves the purpose of 3 to 4 bikes sitting in your garage; it's the super versatile adventure touring bike you need for every ride you take.
